Examining the Status of Spiritual Education in the Sixth-Grade Elementary School Textbooks Hediyehaye Asemani and Quran

One of the fundamental issues that has received relatively little attention in the contemporary era is the spiritual education of human beings. Spiritual education has a long-standing tradition in Islamic and religious culture. From the very beginning of his monotheistic mission, the Prophet Muhammad and the Imams placed considerable emphasis on this matter and promoted it through their words and conduct. The present study aimed to examine the status of spiritual education in the sixth-grade elementary school textbooks Hediyehaye Asemani and Quran. The statistical population comprised the sixth-grade elementary school textbooks Hediyehaye Asemani and Quran. A census sampling method was employed; accordingly, the sample size was equal to the size of the population. Data were collected using a content-analysis checklist, with the sentence, activity, and image serving as the units of analysis. The content validity of the checklist components was confirmed based on expert judgment. Frequency, percentage, and tables were used to analyze the research questions. The findings indicated that, in the sixth-grade Hediyehaye Asemani textbook, 157 sentences in the text, 36 images, and 76 activities referred to the components of spiritual education. Similarly, in the sixth-grade Quran textbook, 291 sentences in the text, 32 images, and 25 activities referred to the components of spiritual education.
