Criticism and Review of Shafiabadi and Naseri's Book of Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy

Following the revision of curricula in humanities disciplines, including counseling and psychology, the "Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy" course was expanded from a single two-credit course into two separate two-credit courses. One of the primary resources for this course is the book Theories of Counseling and Psychotherapy by Shafiabadi and Naseri, recognized as the first authored textbook on this subject in Iran. Given the structured development of approved syllabi, assessing the current state, critically reviewing existing materials, and identifying weaknesses are essential steps in advancing the humanities. This article evaluates the book from multiple perspectives, including its physical design, title, alignment with the approved course syllabus, relevance to related subjects, coherence of its sections, content quality, and comparison with similar books. The findings indicate that while the book was innovative at the time of its publication, it now exhibits certain shortcomings. To align with the Ministry of Science’s approved syllabus, future editions should include not only content revisions, editing, and structural improvements but also additional chapters. Finally, the article offers recommendations to enhance the book’s quality and relevance.

The main goal of this research was to design a model to transform Shahid Madani University of Azerbaijan into a fourth generation university, i.e. entrepreneur university. The current research is a type of qualitative research in which the effective factors in transforming the university into an entrepreneurial university were identified and a conceptual model was presented by using the foundational data theory method. The statistical population of this research is all the managers, employees and faculty members of the mentioned university, whose sampling is based on criterion-based purposeful sampling based on indicators such as (academic rank, faculty position, specialized group, experience in the field of entrepreneurship education, activity in knowledge-based companies and activity in the sector communication with university industry) was done. After collecting information and analyzing them, this article presents the findings of the study in the framework of the paradigm model including: causal conditions (understanding the necessity of an entrepreneurial university, identifying obstacles to becoming an entrepreneurial university, complete independence of the university and autonomy, drafting a mission statement with an entrepreneurial perspective and commitment to it, structural, managerial and regulatory reforms), the central phenomenon (the process of turning ideas into products), strategies (which were formulated based on the opportunities, threats, strengths and weaknesses of the university), background conditions (diversity and innovation in education and research, development of entrepreneurial abilities, institutionalization and foundation, clearly drawing the path of entrepreneurship, financing), intervening conditions (collaboration with the external environment, internationalization of professors and students, internationalization of the educational and research environment) and consequences (changes of professors and students in terms of knowledge, Attitude, behavior, organization changes, university entrepreneurship results.) has analyzed. Two methods were used to validate the designed model:1) study and review of the research by supervisors and consultants who checked and confirmed the correctness of all steps, 2) calculation of the percentage of agreement within the subject by entrepreneurial experts, based on the calculations made, the agreement within the subject was equal to 75%, which considering that this The rate is more than 60%, the reliability of coding is confirmed.

A Disruption of Extended Consciousness and its Effect on Autobiography in Neuropsychoanalysis with Emphasis on the Antonio Damasio's View

In our era, psychoanalysis has aligned itself with the advancements in neuroscience to enhance its effectiveness. Neuroscience, benefiting from its objective stance, has provided a solid foundation for re-evaluating psychoanalytic hypotheses. Awareness is considered a complex and abstract concept shared between neuroscience and psychoanalysis, falling under cognitive and mental function-related categories. Today, most neuroscientists, including Antonio Damasio, focus on the issue of consciousness. Damasio views consciousness as the product of a vast neuronal network. Therefore, this research aims to answer the following questions: In non-material consciousness—the sense of identity we have of our own existence-which parts of the brain are involved, and what neural processes are associated with them? Furthermore, what psychological consequences does consciousness impairment entail for an individual? Using content analysis, this study briefly examines Damasio’s perspectives on consciousness. Damasio does not consider consciousness to be merely an awareness of internal states. He categorizes consciousness into two types: core consciousness and extended consciousness. Core consciousness provides a momentary sense of self. It occurs when the brain generates a nonverbal and imagistic report of how an individual is affected by an object during processing. Extended consciousness, on the other hand, gives an individual a detailed sense of self, forming their autobiographical self. This process depends on higher prefrontal structures, and any damage to these structures leads to executive dysfunction, resulting in behavioral imbalance. Such impairments prevent the expression of certain emotions and feelings that naturally flow within consciousness.

Determinants of Subjective Well-being Among Iranian Students: A Systematic Review

Subjective well-being is a significant indicator of mental health, particularly among university students, and is influenced by individual, familial, social, and academic factors. The aim of this study was to systematically review research on the determinants of subjective well-being among Iranian students over the past 4 years. This systematic review was conducted based on the PRISMA guidelines. The literature search covered articles from 2021 to 2025 in domestic databases such as SID, Magiran, and IranDoc, as well as international databases including PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Search keywords included “subjective well-being,” “mental health,” “psychological well-being,” “students,” and their English equivalents. Studies were screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, and data were extracted and qualitatively analyzed.
Out of 897 identified articles, 15 studies ultimately met the inclusion criteria for the final analysis. The results indicated that factors influencing students’ subjective well-being can be categorized into several interconnected domains: individual-personality, cognitive-metacognitive, emotional, psychological capital, and social- behavioral factors. The analysis of the studies suggests that these dimensions operate interactively; individual characteristics and internal resources provide the context for experiencing well-being, while cognitive, emotional, and social processes play a role in shaping life satisfaction and positive psychological functioning. Overall, the findings demonstrate that student subjective well-being is a multifaceted phenomenon shaped by the interplay of these factors.
