Abstract

The aim of the present study was to identify and explain the consequences of teacher competence using a qualitative approach and thematic analysis method. Teacher competence, as one of the basic components of the quality of the education system, plays an important role in improving the teaching-learning process, improving teachers' professional performance, and the all-round development of students. This study was conducted with a qualitative approach and using thematic analysis method. Research data were collected using interviews with experts in the field of educational management and education, and after several stages, they were reviewed, coded, and classified. The research findings showed that the consequences of teacher competence can be categorized into main themes including improving the quality of teaching and learning, promoting teachers' professional growth and performance, improving educational and training interactions, creating a positive learning environment, cognitive, social, emotional, and moral development of students, realizing educational justice, improving school performance, and increasing teachers' motivation and job satisfaction. Based on the findings, the overarching theme of “Enhancing the educational and training effectiveness of schools through teacher competence” was identified. The results show that teacher competence is not simply an individual and professional characteristic, but also creates widespread consequences at the school level by influencing the quality of teaching, teacher-student relationships, learning environment, and students’ all-round development. Therefore, developing and strengthening teachers’ professional competencies can be considered by policymakers and education administrators as a fundamental strategy for promoting educational quality, improving school performance, and increasing the effectiveness of the education system.
