Goal Orientations For Teaching: Exploration The Factors and Investigation the Effect of Teacher’s Perception of Principal Support on Factors of Goal Orientation

Abstract

One of the most important issues in teaching environment is goal orientation. The base of this, is motivational and is critical for teacher success And it is a key component in relation to achievement motivation. This research has investigation to explore the factors of goal orientations for teaching and the effect of teacher’s perception of principal support on factors. The population research women teachers in high school of Isfahan. 130 of these teachers were selected by cluster sampling random had completed the questionnaire. Name of questionnaires are: Nitsche et. al(2011) goal orientations for teaching questionnaire and Skaalvik and Skaalvik(2011) teacher’s perception of principal support questionnaire . Data analysis with SPSS-20 and AMOS-20. The for factors in exploration factor analysis according to content are called learning goal orientation, performance approach goal orientation and performance avoidance goal orientation. The fitness index in confirmation factor analysis indicate a proper fit of three factors model in this study. The perception of principal support predicted the learning goal orientation. This research showed the importance of teacher goal orientation on improve teaching. The importance of principal support was another result in research. Based on the results of this study, school management support has been identified as one of the possible factors influencing teachers' efforts to be goal-oriented and to strive for learning. Therefore, it is suggested that administrators improve teachers' motivation in school by creating a shield of support for teachers in improving learning and goal-orientation.
